Dear Dad,
(As soon as I posted mom’s you KNOW you were next)
Where do I even begin. Well we have been two peas in a pod since I was born. We do everything together and are basically twins. You are the most accepting, kind, and loving person I know. You treat everyone with respect and you’re unbelievably thoughtful. You’re there for me more than you know. When I’m sad or upset and don’t want to talk, you always give me a minute to breath and then you try to offer me advice. Thank you for this.
You introduced me to my favorite things… Pasta with cheese, Spaghetti and clam sauce, soccer, video games, cars, and action movies. One of my favorite traditions that we continue to have is having spaghetti and clam sauce when mom goes out of town. It’s still one of my favorite meals. Thank you for introducing me to soccer, it taught me a lot of great morals growing up and I wouldn’t have traded the experience for the world. I’m sad that part of my life is over, and I know you are too sometimes, but watching soccer with you on Saturday mornings makes up for it. Alright, our Nintendo 64 is the best thing you ever passed down to me. Also, if you hadn’t helped me fall in love with Marvel or DC comics I don’t think I would be the cool person I am today. Our other tradition is going to see Marvel movies in theatres and I hope we continue to do that for years to come.
You’re not going to cry like mom when I say this, but it needs to be said as well, I am going off to college soon and the one thing I’ll miss the most about leaving you is your sense of humor and your ability to make me laugh all the time. Whenever you think of something funny, please call me or text me. It usually makes my day.
One certain VHS tape that makes me cry any time I watch it, is the one of you, me and mom at Christmas time in Michigan. Seeing you so happy spending Christmas with mom and I, is the sweetest thing ever. Your smile never left your face and still hasn’t.
When I meet that special someone later in life, just know in your heart you’ll always be my number 1, and I will forever be your little girl. Don’t EVER forget this.
I can’t begin to describe how kind you are to people. Sometimes when people don’t deserve the privilege of respect, you still treat them with compassion and love. Sometimes when I am angry and when to go off on someone, you show me ways to respond to someone with maturity. You are also an amazing friend to others and to my friends whether that’s paying for dinner or taking time out of your day to drive somewhere for someone.
Thank you for all the sacrifices you make for our family and friends. What did we do to deserve you in our lives? Honestly, I’m still trying to figure that out.
I love you so much DJ Daddy Pace! And Happy Valentines Day!
Sincerely,
Annabelle
